Set a fine table for your honored guests and beloved family... " S ir Christopher " Sterling Silver Flatware by Wallace Silversmiths HISTORY & STYLE of the PATTERN The " Sir Christopher " flatware pattern was designed and made by Wallace Silversmiths in Wallingford, Connecticut . It was named in honor of Sir Christopher Wren, perhaps the most acclaimed architect in history, most famous for designing St Paul’s Cathedral in London . Because of that , “Sir Christopher” has been a favorite of architects ever since its introduction in 1939. Although the ornamentation of “ Sir Christopher ” is certainly in the English Baroque style , the overall effect is somewhat restrained , and it includes elements of Neoclassical -- typical of the buildings designed by Christopher Wren himself . The pattern is highly symmetric, yet not austere . Features include stylized leaves, swooping flourishes, and a shell motif . G raduated beading appears near the top of the handle and is repeated where the design descends into the bowl of each implement . The narrow cartouche is surmounted by a cluster of grapes, and a single blossom is below . The unusual “grouped tines” on salad fork and cold meat fork are distinctive. It is a dignified pattern , one that would grace a finely set table. 81 PIECES OF STERLING SILVER FLATWARE *** PLACE-SETTING - 72 PIECES 12 Knife (modern blade) 9-1/4" 12 Fork 7-1/4" 12 Teaspoon 6 " 12 Salad Fork, 5 tines 6-3/8" 12 Soup Spoon, Cream (round bowl) 6 " 12 Individual Butter Spreader (hollow handle) 6 " SERVING - 9 PIECES 1 Sugar Spoon 6 " 1 Pie Server 10-1/2" 1 Gravy Ladle 6-3/8" 2 Table (serving) Spoon, Solid 8-1/2" 1 Table (serving) Spoon, Pierced, 3 tines 8-1/2" 1 Cold Meat Fork 8 " 1 Tomato (jellied cranberry) Server 8-1/4" 1 Jelly/Jam Server 6-3/4" STORAGE CHEST Your set of sterling s ilver flatware comes with a storage chest (pictured) for safekeeping and to prevent tarnishing . WHO WE ARE, and WHY WE’RE YOUR BEST CHOICE ENI (Eastern Numismatics Inc.) is a multi-generation, family-run company that began in 1974. Initially the enterprise was only for buying and selling rare coins and gold & silver bullion -- hence the easy-to-remember ‘US Coins ’. Over time we expanded into other pre-owned valuables: jewelry, sterling tableware, and other collectibles. What we came to realize was this: we’re different from other merchants in the same line of business. We give honest appraisals when buying, and we sell at a fair price. Candidly, we don’t chisel, and we don’t gouge. Customers sometimes tell us their sad tales of woe, being ‘taken advantage of’ by dealers who prey on the unknowledgeable. We don’t do that. I guess our mother raised us right . Thanks, Mom!
